Description
The ATLAS detector records the energy, momentum and tracks of particles created during the high-energy collisions inside the Large Hadron Collider.
US ATLAS scientists contribute to several areas, including analysis of the collision data to study particle physics at the smallest scales, design and construction of detector components, development of software and computing infrastructure, operation of the experiment, outreach, etc.
Much of this work is performed by graduate students and young researchers at universities and laboratories in the United States.
